Nuclear energy is among the most important low carbon energy sources for electrical energy production

Nuclear and water energy together contributed to three-quarter of all low carbon energy in the world and have the key role in reducing emissions in the energy sector. In certain developed economies, nuclear energy is the leading producer of low carbon energy. In 2018, almost one fifth of all produced energy in these countries was by nuclear power plants.
